Trying to add a comment to http://astonvilla.blogfootball.com/Lions/2008/05/04#a2707

"I was sh*t to begin with, but at the end once I'd 'found my feet', so to speak I really wanted the game to continue. Yes, I am very proud. I 'Lived the Dream', so to speak. The better team lost. 2-3 with no playing legend as Mark Walters did not turn up, Pat Heard on their side, a goalkeeper who played a blinder for the away squad and us needing to rotate the left back position with right-footed players. FANTASTIC day. Can't wait for 2009!"

All I get on clicking Submit is

Football Aid

I'm participating in this on Saturday at Villa Park (11am) Game 1.

Quite frankly, I'm sh*tt*ng myself at the prospect of it, even though this is the second of my three lifetine ambitions. Mark Walters is my teams 'playing legend' and the opposition have Sid as theirs plus Chris Nichol as their Manager.

I'm unfit, have dodgy ankles, a weak left knee, drink too much, eat too many of the wrong foods, do not exercise, etc etc

I haven't played competitive football for nigh on ten years now and I was utterly cr*p then. Always have been.

Just bought a pair of football boots and shinpads to replace the ones the dog chewed up the other month.

Anyone got any advice? I'm right-back for 45 minutes (I hope to arrange to play for 22/23 minutes in each half).

Have any of you participated in this previously? What's it like?

Wish me luck! I need it.

Cheers!

Villa Book

I am in the initial stages of writing an account of Aston Villa from the point of view of the fan base and I was wondering if members or readers of this site would either be interested in being included or could suggest worthwhile contributers? The initial idea is that it will be a book containing approximately 30 mini biographies of Villa fans and their life and how it has been associated with Aston Villa. I am currently thinking along the lines of having entries selected from 20 or so 'ordinary' fans interspersed with accounts from hand-picked, bona-fide 'celebrity' or 'well known' supporters.

Please feel free to add to this thread with any thoughts via the comments link below.

Thankyou for your time.

Cheers!

Tom Hanks is a Villa fan?

hanks

http://ukpress.google.com/article/ALeqM5ibDcf28E7FKP4tWuHemYaxkgNKqg

"Tom Hanks attended the premiere of his new movie - and declared himself an Aston Villa football fan.

The Forrest Gump actor plays playboy congressman Wilson, who secretly assisted rebels in Afghanistan in their war with the soviets. But the actor swapped politics for football at the premiere by wearing an Aston Villa scarf, because he "likes the team"."

He likes the team? Or the sound of the name? How long before he makes a guest appearance at VP?

I-Frames and HTML removal

I intend to do it myself when I get time. Don't see the need for the 'If this isn't to your liking I'll be quite happy to close this site, and you can go elsewhere.' comment.

I'd have posted this as a response Comment on the previous News item, but clicking submit generates:

Comment

From the main page:

"Not much to update with no one blogging while it was down."

How are you supposed to Blog whilst the server is down?

Anyway, when I'm logged out of this site all my RHS navigation bar is available down to the Membership section, but when logged in and posting it 'stops' at 'Other links' and nothing below this is available.

Free Rice

http://www.freerice.com/index.php

"FreeRice has two goals:

1. Provide English vocabulary to everyone for free.

2. Help end world hunger by providing rice to hungry people for free.

This is made possible by the sponsors who advertise on this site.

Whether you are CEO of a large corporation or a street child in a poor country, improving your vocabulary can improve your life. It is a great investment in yourself.

Perhaps even greater is the investment your donated rice makes in hungry human beings, enabling them to function and be productive. Somewhere in the world, a person is eating rice that you helped provide. Thank you."

A good idea.

Cheers!
