Ultimately disappointed with 6th after a poor show against ManUre, but I'd have settled for that at the start of the year.
Well done to O'Leary. We can argue all day long about merits of various managers and how and what they tried to achieve. Frankly O'Leary has delivered this year. With much the same squad as Taylor he's got players playing for him and the club.
It's all well and good Taylor telling some of the squad some home truths and wanting to get rid of players, what O'Leary has achieved this year is fantastic.
Let him have some more money Doug. Van Bommel would be nice. It's not that I know that much about him, but if he's good enough for DOL then that's good enough for me.

Motorshow Live |
|
Talking of cars, (read today in reverse order!) I spent Sunday at the Motorshow.
In my opinion it's much better than two years ago and well worth a visit.
Too many highlights to mention all but a free 4x4 cross country ride and a go in a Caterham.
Also news worthy is the fact that Gibbs have halved (yes halved) the price of the Aquada. They've had so amny inquiries, that they're planning to produce 1000 a year rather than 100.

All Change. |
|
So, what have I been up to?
Well, one of the digits in the column on the right is about to change. The zero one!
We've knokn for some weeks, but held off announcing it until we'd had a scan - and the results. That was now 5 weeks ago, and it was a nerve wracking time.
We now know that Lesley is expecting a baby girl 2 days before my birthday in November. Life will never be the same again.
Downside is I'm going to have to sell my car, for practical reasons.

Server problems |
|
The hosts had a power cut at approx 6pm Saturday night. This corrupted the Blogfootball server.
When we got access to it Monday morning I was unable to fix the problem so I took it home. Monday night I plugged it in at home and forgot, for the second time, that the powerpack was set to 115 v. It immediately blew.
I got a replacement for it Tuesday and fixed the corruption on Tuesday evening whilst watching Chelsea lose. Ha Ha.
On Wednesday morning I dropped it off at the hosts but forgot to tell them to use the new network card, and not the old one. A trip to the hosts to switch the network cable say the BlogFootball Server spring back to life at approx 12noon.

Tyre-slasher jailed for 16 months |
|
Unemployed "cyclist" slashed almost 2000 tyres because, he says, he got splashed. At nearly 40 he ought to know better, and doing it randomly over a 10 day period, is hardly an instant angry reaction.
Why? Causing £250k's worth of damage there's not a cat in hells chance of him repaying anything. And serving 8 months hardly seems right. What a prick.

Judean People's Front |
|
I know where old Captain is coming from, when refering to slanging matches over the Trust & the VFC. However, I can't let it go. He's not the one that's being slighted, or having his friends abused, unfairly criticised and their hard work undermined by some people.
That said, as I said on the news page, I'm not having ago at
Jon Fear, Naz, or Pete Bland. But there are of course other VFC "hangers on" for want of a better phrase, who take distinct pleasure in.... never mind.
However, as is usual, I know I come out of this looking like the bad guy because I'm prepared to speak my mind, out in the open, and not do it behind people's backs.

Internet Dialling Fraud |
|
Thank God I'm on broadband. Although I like to think I wouldn't have fallen foul of this dialling scam, I know it's all to easy to do.
People are getting bills of over £1000 each! This is from the BBC Watchdog programme. They're wrong though. The people conned made the calls, they just didn't know they were making them. Cue BT trying to sting each one for as much money as possible.
Internet Dialling Fraud
13th April 2004
Since last week's report, 760 of you have been in touch about premium rate internet dialling scams. You've been conned out of £89,000 for calls you didn't make.
One viewer found she had to keep re-connecting whilst visiting a site. She discovered that she had been re-connecting using an 090 number which was registered to an adult site.
Another viewer explained to Watchdog she has to wait up to 4 months for ICSTIS (premium rate regulator) to investigate, and decide if she's liable for the bill.
Even an IT firm has been hit by this problem.
