Wind, italian food and Martin Laursen...
Well, it's hard to believe that it's almost a year since I blogged. Where DID the time go? Scary thought... What a day, I've had! My son (the one under the shirt picture who was about 12 when I took that picture and is now home from his first term at Sheffield University) and I went to Stratford today for a bit of an outing and some quality 'mother&son' time. Not a great day to choose as the weather was awful, it was pouring with rain and the wind was blowing a gale. So, we took refuge in an italian restaurant for a spot of lunch and, as it turns out, celebrity Villa player spotting! Tom says, "I'm sure that's Martin Laursen sitting behind you!", but I can't turn round, can I, without looking totally stupid. So, off I go to the loo just so that on the way back I can have a good look. Well, to cut a long story short, it was him and he obviously goes there often as he was chatting to the staff in italian. Well, I wish I understood italian because I definitely heard him say the word 'Newcastle'. He could have been talking about Sam's fate of course, but then again, he could have been talking about going there... Tom asked for his autograph just as he left and he very kindly obliged. Funnily enough, no one else in the restaurant knew who he was and they were all asking the waiter afterwards. A miserable day in Stratford turned out to be quite good after all although, I've told Tom that if Laursen does go to Newcastle he has to destroy the autograph!!! Martin, if you're reading, thanks for the autograph and please don't go to Newcastle! P.S. Nice to be back!
