You wouldn't believe it, and for a while, I didn't.

Missed the results on Saturday as I was out and about with the missus and her family, and then went straight on to Walthamstow dog track for a night racing greyhounds. And what a fab night it was too. Lots of beer, a few bets, a couple of winners, but mostly lousy dogs who wouldn't know a hare if it smacked it up the arse. Mind you, I suppose it didn't help picking dogs with rude names, or names that could be made rude. However, as it was the first time I'd been to a track properly, I think I didn't do to badly.

Anyhow, the game. There I was, 7 races in, and some bloke in front of me is talking about the Newcastle game and the fact they had 8 men. It had me intruiged, I can tell you. Then I heard we'd won 3-0, and, like a lot of people I guess, presumed we'd done when when they were 3 men down.

Managed to miss MOTD when we got back to the hotel, so had to wait for the morning to see anything.

Put it this way, it was worth the wait.

All I can say is pure, pure comedy. The first goal was great, even though "Chris Harte" didn't think that Juan enjoyed it, I bet he did.

And then it went fab.

I think Samual's hand ball was a penalty, but sod it, we've been on the wrong sides of decisions for so long now, it's about time we got one.

Then at the other end, one of the best hand balls I've seen for a while, and then going down like he was shot granted our first penalty. Hearts are in mouths - who will take it? Not Juan, surely. Up steps Barry, 2-0. bring it on.

I know for the second penalty there is a debate on whether it was or not, but sod it, we've been on the wrong sides of decisions for so long now, and now we've got two in one game. Up steps Barry again, and it's 3-0.

Newcastle are down and out, and then the fun starts.

Here's the video of it. I could watch it again and again.

We don;t know what Bowyer and Dyer had been saying to each other, but who cares. This is one of the funniest things I've seen for a while.

Apart from the fight, one of the best bits is the linesman. He flags furiously when it starts to get the refs attention, and then runs away from it, not wanting to get involved at all. I bet he was thinking "If that nutter Bowyer's involved, I'm out of here. I saw what he did to the Asian kid!"

It even made the mother in law laugh, and she knows sod all about football.

Classic.

Meanwhile, Doug has promised £20m to spend in the summer. Where the hell has that come from? Surely we only had £4m to spend the other day.

The smell of bullshit is strong. I'll believe it when I see it.

But I wont believe it if it's spent on Kevin Phillips and Scott Parker.

But, while I'm typing this, I'm rationalising it. Hitz will be off to Germany, so Parker could be an adequate replacement. However, he can't get in the team at Chelsea, and would he get a place in the Villa midfield if everyone is fit? Do you drop McCann, Barry, Nobby, or Little Lee?

So we'll wait and see.

As for Phillips, we don't need an aging striker. Lets blow it all, bid for Terry Henry, and laugh as one of the best strikers in the world at the moment struggles with no support from the midfield.

Note: Doug, if you're reading this, then I'm only joking about that last bit. Don;t blow it all on one player, as that is not really deemed as squad strenghtening. I was only joking.

So the Baggies are next, and our push for Europe continues. It wont happen, we're way to inconsistant to get there this season, but it's always nice to dream.

Another 3-0 anybody?
