Rimmer had the distinction of representing three of the biggest clubs in England - Villa, Arsenal and Manchester United. He is one of the few English players to win 2 European Cup winners Medals. He sat on the bench for Man Utd's 1968 Wembley victory, and of course was the Villa keeper during their triumph at the other end of his career.
It was truly a sad sight to see him go off injured after only 9 minutes of the Final in 82 - he afterwards said that the medal meant nothing to him - Nigel Spink's heroics against Rummenigge and Co won the day on that occasion.
He was a superb shot stopper and a great acrobatic keeper, a genuine hero of the Holte End.
